Program Overview
The Elaine Sterling Institute Nail Care Instructor Program is designed to equip licensed nail technicians for a career in teaching by preparing them with the knowledge, skills, and experience needed to become successful instructors in the field and industry of nail care. Throughout the program, student instructors will have the opportunity to learn and practice their teaching skills in a real-world setting through practical training with while they sharpen their skills and develop their unique instructional vision and master educationally advanced techniques.

Program Objectives
The objective of the Elaine Sterling Institute Nail Care Instructor Program is to develop in the student instructor, teaching skills and educational judgments necessary to become an effective, engaging, and successful instructor. To provide a content-rich curriculum that meets State, National and International requirements in curriculum development, lesson plans and presentations, classroom management and discipline, demonstrations and theory lectures and various methods of evaluation. To train instructor students to critically think as they assess and address the individual needs of each nail care student. The goal of this program is to qualify and equip the instructor student with the tools, experience, and confidence necessary to pass the State of Georgia Licensing Examination and to assure they are a top candidate for future employers or business opportunities.

After a student instructor completes 250 hours (online theory and on campus), exams and fulfills all financial obligations to the school, a certificate will be awarded.
The Nail Care Instructor program requires that each student have a minimum grade of 75% and the student have a minimum attendance of 80%.
State Board Requirements
(a) General Education = (100) – (100 credit/100 clock hours):
- Cosmetology and Barber Laws and rules = (25) – (25 credit/25 clock hours); and
- Principles of teaching nail care = (75) – (75 credit/75 clock hours).
(b) Teaching techniques and audio visual aids = (75) – (75 credit/75 clock hours):
- Curriculum development;
- Lesson plans and presentations;
- Classroom management and discipline;
- Demonstrations and Theory lectures; and
- Various methods of evaluation.
(c) Practice teaching = (75) – (75 credit/75 clock hours).
