How To Qualify For Aid

Student financial aid applicants must satisfy certain requirements in order to receive financial aid. These requirements include, but are not limited to, the following:

Types of Financial Aid

Federal Pell Grants

A grant is an award of federal financial aid which does not require repayment by the recipient. The Pell Grant is an entitlement program and the recipient will receive the grant provided qualification is met. The amount of the award is based on the U.S. Department of Education’s determination of the student’s need. Federal Pell Grants usually are awarded only to undergraduate students who display exceptional financial need and have not earned a bachelor’s, graduate, or professional degree.

Subsidized and Unsubsidized Loans

Subsidized and unsubsidized loans are federal student loans for eligible students to help cover the cost of higher education at a four-year college or university, community college, or trade, career, or technical school. The U.S. Department of Education offers eligible students at participating schools Direct Subsidized Loans and Direct Unsubsidized Loans. Student must repay the loans borrowed regardless of whether the student completes the program, receives a job or enjoys the program.

More To Know

The law specifies how our school must determine the amount of Title IV program assistance that a student may earn if he or she withdraws from school.

Individuals transitioning from military service may use the GI Bill in order to fund their education. For more information, visit the US Department of Veterans Affairs

The federal government does not take kindly to dispersing financial aid to a student only to learn of that student’s drug violation or sexual offense, and neither does The Elaine Sterling Institute. Such violations can result in termination of enrollment and termination of federal financial aid.

Our Financial Aid Officers are here to help you locate and apply for any programs that may help you attend school here.  We work closely with federal agencies, private lenders and you to help you determine the most cost-effective and beneficial programs for which you may qualify.  We provide this service to our students with the utmost attention to full-disclosure of all programs and policies and pride ourselves on out exemplary code of conduct.

Students must meet the following minimum requirements to remain eligible for federal financial aid programs:

All student attendance hours are reported to the Department of Education and Georgia State Board of Cosmetology. Students are required to attend class according to their scheduled hours. All scheduled hours are based on full-time enrollment. Special schedules may be allowed with written approval of the School Director. Hours include Saturday hours and students are expected to attend consistently. Students are expected to notify the Institute of any absence, scheduled or unscheduled. Students who arrive late or leave early will lose all clock hours for the day if the absence is unexcused. If the absence is excused, students will only lose the actual hours missed.
