Program Overview
The Elaine Sterling Institute Cosmetology Instructor Program is designed to equip licensed cosmetologists for a career in teaching by preparing them with the knowledge, skills, and experience needed to become successful instructors in the field and industry of cosmetology. Throughout the program, student instructors will have the opportunity to learn and practice their teaching skills in a real-world setting through practical training with while they sharpen their skills and develop their unique instructional vision and master educationally advanced techniques.

750 total hours
9-11 months
Full-Time Day Program
Monday – Wednesday 9:00am – 4:30pm
225 HOURS ONLINE – Complete first, 15 hours per week (15 weeks or 3.75 months)
525 HOURS ON CAMPUS – 7.5 HOURS PER DAY – 22.5 HOURS PER WEEK (23 weeks or 5.75 months)
Part-Time Evening Program
Monday – Wednesday 6:00pm – 10:00pm
4 HOURS PER DAY – 12 HOURS PER WEEK (43.75 WEEKS or 10.75 months)

Program Objectives
The objective of the Elaine Sterling Institute Cosmetology Instructor Program is to develop in the student instructor, teaching skills and educational judgments necessary to become an effective, engaging, and successful instructor. To provide a content-rich curriculum that meets State, National and International requirements in curriculum development, lesson plans and presentations, classroom management and discipline, demonstrations and theory lectures and various methods of evaluation. To train instructor students to critically think as they assess and address the individual needs of each esthetician student. The goal of this program is to qualify and equip the instructor student with the tools, experience, and confidence necessary to pass the State of Georgia Licensing Examination and to assure they are a top candidate for future employers or business opportunities.

After a student instructor completes 500 hours (225 online theory hours + 525 hours on campus), exams and fulfills all financial obligations to the school, a certificate will be awarded.
The Cosmetology Instructor program requires that each student have a minimum grade of 75% and the student have a minimum attendance of 80%.
State Board Requirements
(a) | General Education = (250)-(250 credit/250 clock hours): All practice teaching must be supervised by a licensed instructor.
